Fortnite’s Week 9 challenges are here, and this week’s set has a heavy focus on scavenger-hunt type challenges. As such, this week will probably take a bit longer for most players to complete, as these challenges will have you completing timed trials and hunting around the map for specific locations and items. Fortunately, we have all the maps and tips you need to make the Week 9 challenges a breeze.
Fortnite Season 7 Week 9 Challenge Guide
Use a Sneaky Snowman item in different matches (3)
For those unfamiliar, the Sneaky Snowman is a new Season 7 throwable item. They’re fairly common drops, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting your hands on one. Simply find and use one in three different matches to mark off this challenge.
Eliminate opponents in Junk Junction or Retail Row (3)
A rather straightforward elimination challenge, this particular challenge tasks you with eliminating three enemies at either one of the locations listed above. Since Junk Junction is a bit out of the way, it tends to be mostly devoid of enemies. We suggest focusing your efforts at the more popular Retail Row to get this challenge marked off quickly.
Landing Challenge
The classic landing challenge has returned yet again. Simply drop into a match and land at the following locations to complete the challenge.
- Stage 1: Land at Retail Row
- Stage 2: Land at Frosty Flights
- Stage 3: Land at Haunted Hills
- Stage 4: Land at Shifty Shafts
- Stage 5: Land at Dusty Divot
Pop 10 Golden Balloons
This challenge is similar to other item hunt challenges from past weeks, but there’s a bit of a twist to this one that makes it harder to complete. When a balloon is popped, it’s popped until the match is over. That means if another player finds and pops a balloon, you’ll have to head to a different location or start a new match to get the balloon to respawn. Here’s a map to their locations:
There are plenty of balloons scattered about the map, so even if you miss out on one, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding another.
Dance at different locations
This challenge tasks players with finding and dancing at three different locations: a sundial, an oversized cup of coffee, and a giant metal dog head.
The sundial is located on the Paradise Palms area of the map, near the hill where the Cube first appeared. You should be able to see the sundial pretty easily from the air, as it’s made of rusted out cars.
The coffee cup is also hard to miss, as it’s literally lit up in neon. The cup serves as the sign for the Dusty Diner.
Finally, the giant metal dog head is part of the sign at Junk Junction. As with the coffee mug, you’ll probably need to build a ramp to get on top of it.
Here’s a map to each location:
Shotgun eliminations (3)
This is another straightforward challenge. Simply grab your favorite scattergun variant and get to work. As with other elimination challenges, this is easiest to complete in a Team Rumble game type. The matches are long, have plenty of enemies, and you’ll be able to respawn. You should be able to get this one done in a single match.
Complete X-4 Stormwing timed trials (2)
The timed trials are back, but they’re a little different this time around. You’ll have to complete them in an X-4 Stormwing. To start a timed trial, simply look for the floating blue beacons like the one pictured above. Once you fly through the ring, the timer will begin to countdown. Simply fly through all the rings before the timer runs out to complete the trial. You’ll need to do this at two different locations to complete the challenge. Here’s a map to help you find them:
If you’ve been keeping up and completing every weekly challenge so far, this week should net you enough to unlock the mysterious Snowfall skin. If you haven’t hit the mark yet, don’t sweat it. Season 7 still has one more week of challenges yet to come.
