Players that venture into the dungeons of the castle at Polar Peak are in for a stunning surprise. Deep inside the frozen catacombs, you can find a well-hidden Easter egg (no pun intended) that seems to indicate that things may soon be heating up in Fortnite: Battle Royale. What appear to be clusters of actual dragon eggs have been found in the icy depths at Polar Peak. If you want to go take a look for yourself, here’s how to find this scaly secret.

How to find the Fortnite dragon eggs

After dropping in at Polar Peak, you’ll want to head to the main castle at the northern edge of the summit. On either side of the main stairs, you should be able to see smaller stairs leading down into little alcove-like corridors. Head for the one on the right, pictured in the image above. At the end, you should find a small door. Open it, and head inside.

Immediately after entering the door, head to the right and you should see a long hallway lined with a series of urns on pedestals. Look for the first pedestal and begin mining out the floor underneath it. It will drop open, revealing an ice-covered hallway hidden beneath the floor.

Dropping into this hallway will reveal it isn’t actually a hallway at all: it’s a dungeon, split into seperate cells by a series of thick metal bars. You’ll have to destroy the bars in your way to get to the end of the hallway, which may take a bit of time. The eggs themselves are tucked away in the final cell on the left.

You’ll see them as soon as you enter that last cell: five icy blue dragons eggs of various shapes and sizes, growing among the snow. A closer look will show the serpent-like shapes of the dragons within through the transluscent surface of the eggs.

So, we have the eggs, but what does this mean for Fortnite? It’s not the first time we’ve seen some fantastical beasts within the game. Season 5’s Valkyrie skin came with a glider in the shape of a snow-themed dragon, and Season 6’s Battle Pass included a pet dragon as back bling. It’s not far fetched to imagine that these eggs will soon become full-fledged adults.

Most theories seem to point to dragons being a key aspect of Season 8. Dragons are known for their fiery breath, and a good chunk of the map is now covered in ice. Could their hatching mean we’re about to see some of that ice melt? Also a possibility is the introduction of the dragons as rideable vehicles, similar to the new planes added for Season 7.

One thing we do know for certain is that Polar Peak itself is slowly melting, revealing more and more of the castle over time. Could it be that more dragon eggs lie frozen in the ice, just waiting to be uncovered? Only time will tell as we wait to see what other secrets lie encased beneath the castle.

Alex's first experience with video games came at the tender young age of 12, when his parents gave him and his brothers a PlayStation 2 for Christmas. They’ve probably been regretting that mistake ever since, because as soon he finished his first lap in Gran Turismo 3, Alex was hooked for life. In addition to writing for Softonic, Alex has turned that love of games into a voice acting career, and has voiced everything from grizzled old soldiers to vampire lords. When he's not gaming or getting behind the microphone, Alex can probably be found wandering the woods around Boston or putting together some new culinary delight in his kitchen.
